Military exercises of Indian defence forces


The Indian Defence Forces conduct multiple exercises regularly. Here is a sample list for your reference :
  • IBSAMAR is the series of naval exercises by the navies of India, Brazil, South Africa. IBSAMAR = India-Brazil-South Africa Maritime. The first exercise took place in 2008, and the fifth was held off the West-coast of India from 19-29 Feb 2016. 
  • INDRA is a joint, bi-annual military exercise conducted by India and Russia starting in 2003, to boost cooperation and interoperability between the Russian and Indian navies. INDRA = India + Russia. The exercise involves live firing drills, as well as air defence and anti submarine operations. INDRA's ninth edition was conducted in the Bay of Bengal from 14 to 21 December 2016. The exercise has matured over the years with increase in scope, complexity of operations and level of participation. 
  • The Malabar Naval Exercise (started 1992) is a trilateral involving the United States, Japan and India as permanent partners. Originally it was a bilateral exercise between India and the United States, and Japan became a permanent partner in 2015. Australia and Singapore are past non-permanent participants. It includes activities ranging from fighter combat operations from aircraft carriers through Maritime Interdiction Operations Exercises. The 2016 Malabar exercise was conducted starting 26 June 2016.   • SIMBEX (started 1993) is the series of naval exercises between the navies of India and Singapore. SIMBEX = Singapore India Maritime Bilateral Exercise. It has transcended the traditional emphasis on Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) to more complex maritime exercises, such as Air Defence, Air and Surface practice firing, Maritime Security, and Search and Rescue Operations. The 2014 edition was conducted in the Andaman Sea from 22-28 May 14.
  • SLINEX (started 2005) are a series of naval exercises between the Indian Navy and the Sri Lanka Navy. SLINEX = Sri Lanka India Naval Exercise. The fourth SLINEX was from October 27 to November 15, 2015, off Trincomalee, Sri Lanka. 
  • VARUNA naval exercise (started 1993, named 2001) is an integral part of France–India strategic relationship in the 21st century and consists of naval cooperation drills between the French Navy and the Indian Navy. The joint-exercises are held either in the Indian Ocean or Mediterranean sea. The 2015 Varuna exercises focussed on theatre-level Indo-French military cooperation in aero-naval and anti-submarine warfare. 
  • TROPEX is a month-long, annual theatre readiness operational exercise and an inter-service military exercise involving all the services of the Indian Armed Forces. The exercise tests the combat readiness of the Indian naval units, as well as the Indian Air Force, Indian Army and the Indian Coast Guard. Started in 2006, the TROPEX 2017 was conducted in Jan-Feb 2017 off the western seaboard of India.
  • Iron Fist is an Indian Air Force exercise held at Pokhran, Rajasthan. It has been held twice - 2013 and 2016. The first exercise in 2013 was designed to display network-centric operations capabilities of the Indian Air Force. Iron Fist 2016 was held on 18 March 2016, featuring the participation of 181 aircraft, 103 of them fighter planes. It also included a display of the firepower of Tejas LCA for the first time. 
  • Exercise Red Flag is an advanced aerial combat training exercise hosted at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, US. The purpose is to train pilots and other flight crew members from the U.S., NATO and other allied countries for real air combat situations. India participated in 2008 and 2016.
  • YUDH ABHYAS is conducted by the Indian and US Armies, and is one of the longest running joint military drills, hosted alternately by the two countries. The first exercise was conducted in 2004 at the platoon level, and recent one in 2015. Watch many video analyses on Defence and Military here

भारतीय रक्षा बल लगातार अनेक युद्ध-अभ्यास करते रहते हैं ये रही एक सूची आपके सन्दर्भ हेतु :
  • IBSAMAR भारत, ब्राजील और दक्षिण अफ्रीका के नौसेनिक अभ्यासों की श्रृंखला है। IBSAMAR = India-Brazil-South Africa Maritime। इसका पहला अभ्यास 2008 में हुआ था, और पांचवा भारत के पश्चिमी तट पर 19 से 29 फरवरी 2016 को हुआ। 
  • INDRA भारत और रूस द्वारा 2003 में प्रारंभ एक संयुक्त द्वि-वार्षिक सैन्य अभ्यास है, जो भारत और रूस की नौसेनाओं को सहयोग बढ़ाने और सह-क्रियान्वयन में मदद करता है। INDRA = India + Russia। इस अभ्यास में वास्तविक गोलीचालन एवं वायुरक्षा और पनडुब्बी रोधी गतिविधियां भी होती है। इसका 9वां अंक बंगाल की खाड़ी में 14 से 21 दिसंबर 2016 को हुआ। समय के साथ ये अभ्यास जटिलता और सहभागिता में परिपक्व होता चला गया है। 
  • मलाबार नौसेनिक अभियान (1992 में प्रारंभ) एक त्रि-पक्षीय गतिविधि है जिसमें अमेरिका, जापान और भारत स्थाई सदस्य हैं। शुरूआत में यह द्वि-पक्षीय अभ्यास रहा, और 2015 में जापान इसका स्थाई सदस्य बना। आस्ट्रेलिया और सिंगापुर भूतपूर्व अस्थाई सदस्य रहे हैं। इसमें अनेक गतिविधियां होती हैं जिसमें एयरक्राफ्ट कॅरियर से चलाये गये युद्धक अभ्यास भी होते हैं। 2016 का मलाबार अभ्यास 26 जून 2016 को प्रारंभ हुआ। भारत की रक्षा तैयारी पर पढ़ें हमारी बोधि यहां।
  • SIMBEX (1993 में प्रारंभ) भारत और सिंगापुर की नौसेनाओं के अभ्यास की श्रृंखला है। SIMBEX = Singapore India Maritime Bilateral। पनडुब्बी रोधी युद्धक अभ्यास से आगे बढ़कर इसमें जटिल नौसेनिक अभ्यास जैसे वायुरक्षा, वायु और सतह पर गोली चालन, नौसेनिक सुरक्षा, और खोज और बचाव अभियान शामिल है। 2017 का अभ्यास अंडमान सागर में 22 से 28 मई 2014 को हुआ। 
  • SLINEX (2005 में प्रारंभ) भारतीय-श्रीलंका नौसेनाओं का संयुक्त अभ्यास है। SLINEX = Sri Lanka India Naval Exercise । चौथा स्लाइनेक्स 27 अक्टूबर से 15 नंवंबर 2015 तक श्रीलंका के तिंकुमाली के निकट हुआ। 
  • वरूण नौसेनिक अभ्यास (1993 में प्रारंभ), नाम मिला 2001 से। भारत और फ्रांस की 21वीं सदी की सामरिक भागीदारी का अभिन्न अंग है और इसमें दोनों नौसेनाओं के बीच सहयोग अभ्यास होते हैं। ये अभ्यास या तो हिंद महासागर या भू-मध्य सागर में होते हैं। 2015 के वरूण अभ्यास में वायु सेना - नौसेना और पनडुब्बी रोधी युद्धक अभ्यास रहे। 
  • TROPEX एक माह तक चलने वाला और भारतीय सशस्त्र बलों के तीनों अंगों हेतु एक वार्षिक सैन्य अभ्यास है जिसमें युद्ध क्षेत्र की क्रियात्मक कार्यवाही करवाई जाती है। इस अभ्यास में भारतीय सेना के सभी अंग युद्ध हेतु कितने तैयार है इसकी जांच होती है। 2006 में शुरू, ट्रापेक्स 2017 भारत के पश्चिमी तट पर जनवरी-‘फरवरी 2017 में हुआ। 
  • आयरन फिस्ट पोखरण राजस्थान में होने वाला भारतीय वायुसेना अभ्यास है। ये अब तक दो बार हुआ है - 2013 और 2016 में। 2013 का पहला अभ्यास भारतीय वायुसेना की संजाल-केंद्रीत क्षमताओं के प्रदर्षन हेतु हुआ था। आयरन फिस्ट 2016 का आयोजन 18 मार्च 2016 को हुआ जिसमें 181 वायुयानों ने भाग लिया, जिनमें 103 युद्धक विमान थे। इसमें तेजस का भी पहली बार प्रदर्शन किया गया। 
  • रेड फ्लेग अभ्यास अमेरिका के नेवादा में नैलिस वायुसेना बेस पर आयोजित होने वाला उन्नत स्तरीय यु़द्धक प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम है इसका लक्ष्य है कि अमेरिका, नाटो और अन्य मित्र देशों के पायलटों को वास्तिविक अभ्यास हेतु प्रशिक्षित करना। भारत ने इसमें 2008 और 2016 में भाग लिया था। 
  • युद्ध अभ्यास भारतीय और अमेरिकी सेनाओं द्वारा आयोजित होने वाला लंबे समय से चला आ रहा संयुक्त सैन्य अभ्यास है, जिसका आयोजन हर वर्ष किसी एक देश में होता है। पहला अभ्यास 2004 में हुआ और हालिया अभ्यास 2015 में। रक्षा एवं सैन्य पर अनेक वीडियो देखें, यहां।
