  1. FBI Boss – fired! In a surprising move, President Donald Trump fired James Comey (the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation – FBI) and the man overseeing the agency’s probe into contacts between the Trump presidential campaign and Russian officials. Various allegations have been swirling since 2016 around those links.
  2. The Russian ghost looms large : The dismissal marks the latest in a series of sensational episodes that raise questions about the relationships President Trump and his campaign aides may have had with Russia. The removal of Mr. Comey comes less than three months after Trump fired Michael Flynn, national security adviser, because of Russia-related activity. The FBI is investigating Mr. Flynn, who lied to White House officials about the nature of phone conversations he had with the Russian ambassador during the transition.
  3. Sally Yates, the AG – fired! In late January, Trump also dismissed Sally Yates, his acting attorney-general for refusing to defend his controversial travel ban in the court. Again in March, Trump demanded the resignation of 46 top regional prosecutors of the justice department, including Preet Bharara, the US attorney in Manhattan, who was fired when he declined to resign.
  4. PT Gurukul : A range of awesome courses at your fingertips - no travelling, no non-sense, no pollution, no risk, no waste of time - only 24x7 high quality learning at your fingertips!
  5. Hillary Clinton’s personal email server : The dismissal comes at a time when Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov is due to meet President Trump. In March, Comey revealed that the FBI was investigating ties between campaign members and Russian officials. Mr. Comey, who was appointed FBI chief by Barack Obama, had a good reputation until the 2016 election when he sparked controversy over his handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of her private email server.
  6. Tied up in knots : The controversy started when Mr. Comey announced at a press conference that he would not recommend indicting Mrs. Clinton. Seemingly he had breached rules that the FBI does not comment on investigations. The White House said Comey was fired at the recommendation of the Justice Department, but Brian Fallon, who was the Clinton campaign’s press secretary last year, said Trump’s decision “smells like a cover up on Russia”.
  7. 1973 Nixon Massacre : For many, the episode recalled the “massacre” in 1973, when President Richard Nixon ordered attorney-general Elliot Richardson to fire Archibald Cox, the special prosecutor investigating the Watergate break-in, who tried secret recordings of Oval Office conversations. That scandal cost Nixon his Presidency and reputation. What happens now is anybody’s guess.
